After more than two years since the Gimnazija Celje – Center (Grammar School Celje – Center) became the fifth Confucius Classroom in Slovenia, it was finally officially opened on Thursday, November 17.

The event began at 9:00 am, when guests from other Slovenian Confucius Classrooms and representatives from the Confucius Institute Ljubljana arrived at the GCC. The common thread of the day was Alma M. Karlin, a world traveler who had a very special relationship with China. The guests visited the exhibition of Alma M. Karlin in The Celje Regional Museum. After a walk through the city of Celje, workshops on Chinese culture (culinary, calligraphy, martial arts, tea party) were organized in the premises of the GCC.

At 2 p.m., the directors of the Confucius Institute Ljubljana, Danijela Voljč, M. A. and Lu Tingyao, together with representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, presented a commemorative plaque to the Gimnazija Celje - Center. The ceremony was prepared by the high school students of GCC together with their mentors, sinologists Katarina Potočnik and Kristina Sojar Voglar, and Chinese teacher Wang Shiqi. The rich program, which more than impressed the audience, is a reflection of the hard work of CC Celje and the commitment of teachers and students.
