A dragon boat competition was held by the Confucius Institute Ljubljana in cooperation with Slovenian Canoe Federation to celebrate the Traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Nine teams participated in the dragon boat race. The race was held in three rounds under the auspices of the Slovenian Canoe Federation. The race started at 13:00 and was cheered on by spectators on the banks of the Ljubljana River. The winner was the Red Team, the second and third places were taken by the Yellow Team and the Orange Team.

To get better acquainted with the folk customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, there was cheerful Chinese music, and all participants had the opportunity to taste Chinese food. There were four food stalls with traditional Chinese dishes, such as: Zongzi, Jiaozi, Noodles, Peking Duck and even Bubble Tea. There was also a workshop corner for children of different ages with coloring sheets and a Chinese calligraphy workshop.

The event attracted many visitors from all walks of life, numerous members of the Chinese community in Slovenia, professional and amateur rowers, fans of Chinese culture, teachers and students from CI Ljubljana and Confucius Classrooms, and Chinese students. The joyful energy also attracted random tourists and locals passing by, who were drawn to the ongoing activities and the cheers of the spectators.
