As part of the month of Chinese culture, on Friday, May 6 at 5.30 pm we organized a movie night at Slovenska kinoteka.

Before the film, Mag. Danijela Voljč, Director of the Confucius Institute Ljubljana, talked with Mr. Ji Rongqiang, an entrepreneur and owner of Chinese restaurants, about his childhood, life in the Chinese countryside and the story of how he left China. He said that Slovenians and Chinese are similar primarily in that they place central importance on family. Conversation opened some topics that were also the common thread of the documentary.

Until the Sea Turns Blue is a documentary by renowned director Jia Zhangke. Jia Zhangke focused on three famous writers from three different generations, and through their stories, we learn how urbanization, the Cultural Revolution and reforms in China affected their work.

The entrance fee was free of charge.
